August 2026 in numbers
In August 2026 Vela Greece supported 161 unaccompanied minors temporarily accommodated at the Malakasa Reception and Identification Centre. 78 children arrived and 54 departed to long-term accommodation. Most come from Egypt (66%), followed by Sudan, South Sudan, Bangladesh and Pakistan — 23 countries in total.
In total, 3,363 unaccompanied minors have benefited from Vela Greece's services between April 2024 and August 2026.
